About Louisville Slugger

Founded in 1884, Louisville Slugger has since become the official bat of Major League Baseball and the No. 1 bat used by major leaguers. More than 100 million bats have been sold since the company began, making it arguably the most popular brand in baseball history.

Started in his father's woodworking shop, John A. "Bud" Hillerich convinced Pete Browning, who was known as "The Louisville Slugger," to let him make the pro a handcrafted bat. Browning broke out of a slump his first time using the bat, and that launched one of the most iconic brands in history.

Not until hall of famer Honus Wagner allowed Hillerich to use his name one of the bats had any athlete endorsed any kind of athletic product. Since, several hall of famers have proudly endorsed Louisville's bats, including Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Roberto Clemente, and Hank Aaron. More recent stars who have used the Louisville brand include George Brett, Ken Griffey Jr., and Derek Jeter.

Louisville Slugger continues to dominate both the wood and aluminum bat markets, providing innovative technology in baseball, fastpitch, and slowpitch. The company now also sells fielding gloves, batting gloves, catcher's gear, equipment bags, training aids, and apparel. Louisville also offers personalized, miniature, commemorative and collectible bats.

The brand’s iconic wood bats continue to be made in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. The Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory in Louisville hosts millions of baseball players, enthusiasts, and fans every year.

At Closeout Bats we stock what we sell! We have a huge warehouse and are NOT drop shipping bats like many web sites. We update inventory and availability on the Web site several times a day as inventory positions change shipping hundreds and hundeds of bats. We also sell bats out of our physical store, so sometimes things sell out before we can get them off the Web site.

Limited quantities available. Prices subject to change without notice. Like we say, if it's on the site, it's in the warehouse -- just SOMETIMES it might have some other player's name on it! If you snooze, you lose, so ORDER YOURS NOW!
